Making the most of your employee benefits budget

Our client relationships receive the same focus and level of service, regardless of size. A firm partner will always be the main point of contact. We are committed to maintaining our organization as a ‘boutique’ — meaning the intimacy and expertise available now will remain for the duration of your relationship with us. Our experience within larger organizations exposed us to the strengths and limitations that scale brings. Now we intend to bring the ‘best of both worlds’ — the intelligence and experience of a larger firm coupled with the flexibility and responsiveness of a smaller firm.

We have passion for solving problems — those of our client and their employees. And we simply have a passion for our jobs. We love what we do, and we believe this energy is unique in the industry — a welcome respite to the challenges normally associated with benefits plan design and administration.

Richard Kosinski

Partner

Richard Kosinski founded Brio Consulting (formerly Strategic Business Solutions, Inc) in 2003. His career in the healthcare industry began in 1999, and all of his experience has been in sales.

Richard’s first position was with CIGNA HealthCare as a direct sales representative, responsible for selling products directly to small, mid-size, and large firms. His final position prior to starting Brio was as New Business Manager, for selling CIGNA medical and dental products to mid-sized firms through the NY insurance brokerage community. He finished in the top 10% of the sales organization in 2002 and 2003.

Richard’s volunteer work includes serving on the Board of Directors of “A Caring Hand” which is a not-for-profit organization that provides financial support to children who have lost a parent and is in the process of opening the first non-clinical bereavement center for children in New York. He has also coached CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) Basketball for seven years.

Richard currently lives in Manhattan. He earned a Bachelors Degree in finance and investment from Baruch College.

Jason Pastrano

Partner

Jason Pastrano joined Brio as a partner in the organization shortly after its founding. His early career includes Provider Relations and Network Development, managing physician and hospital recruitment for two different firms based and operating in New Jersey. In 1996 he joined Oxford Health Plans as a Direct Sales Representative. He sold Oxford products directly to small, mid-size and large firms for three years.

His success resulted in recruitment by CIGNA Healthcare, for a New Business Manager position. Over six years, starting in 1999, his efforts resulted in 170 new clients for CIGNA, generating $100 million in new business premium and placing him in the top 15% of the national sales force for five consecutive years. He received over a half dozen firm accolades, including the David Leland Award 2003 for outstanding sales success and demonstrated leadership. All told, he has 12 years of experience in the healthcare industry and 10 of those years specifically in sales.

Jason’s community involvement includes a position on the Board of Directors of The Tower of Hope, a non profit with a mission to empower people living with disabilities or chronic illness to live more independent lives through the use of service and assistance animals.

Jason is a proud native of Staten Island, NY and currently lives in Manhattan with his wife, Jamie, and two children, Jesse and Cameron. He earned a BS in Finance with a minor in Mathematics from New York University in 1994.
